How Can The Government Save The Restaurant Industry?

For the longest time now, the restaurant industry has taken a financial hit. Not only has restaurants taken a hit financially, but many are struggling to stay open. However, for the restaurant industry to survive everyone including the government must come together to revive the economy. Additionally, there is something that can be done for a limited time just so restaurants can get back on their feet.

Close All Large Grocery/Retail Stores For Two Months

Before you think I am crazy, hear me out. Closing grocery/retail stores for two month does not include the small mom-and-pop shops. I am directly talking about the big stores like Walmart, Kroger, Target, etc. These are the stores that are filled with people on a daily basis and are the cause in the increase of the spread of COVID-19. These store can afford to close for a two month period.

After closing all the large/retail stores, all restaurant should open. This will cause a shift in need and it will push people to use their stimulus money to buy food prepared by restaurants. Although, if something like this does not happen the economy will suffer in a major way. The effects people will continue to cause are because of their actions. Actions like visiting the grocery and retail stores twice maybe three times a week just to spend money on things they do not need but are intending to resell online.

For example, when COVID-19 first came into the United States people started hoarding hand sanitizers, gym equipment, masks, and many more times. The disgusting thing about this is that people were taking advantage of the ones that were not quick to act. Those are the people that are price gouging online and hustling people in need.

Before COVID-19, a person was able to purchase a pair of 20 lb dumbbells for $40. Now, these are getting sold on Ebay for $135.
